Strengthening Utah’s connections in two of Europe’s most influential economies.
WTC Utah and Gov. Spencer Cox led a 50-person delegation to Switzerland and Germany to strengthen strategic relationships and explore new opportunities across industries, driving Utah’s global growth. The trade mission was a successful representation of Utah’s commitment to strong economic ties in Europe.
🇨🇭 Switzerland
The Switzerland portion of the trade mission focused on education and transportation, highlighting the connection between workforce development and industry needs.
Meetings with leaders from ETH Zurich, Roche, UBS, and Inspire AG centered on workforce readiness, technical education, and innovation-driven collaboration.
The delegation also visited the Swiss headquarters of Stadler Rail and Doppelmayr/Garaventa, two companies with a significant presence in Utah, to reinforce long-standing partnerships and discuss future collaboration.
🇩🇪 Germany
In Germany, the delegation attended Hannover Messe, the world’s leading industrial technology trade fair, where participants engaged with companies focused on research and technology, automation and digitization, and energy and industrial infrastructure.
During the visit, Gov. Cox signed an MOU with Saarland, renewing a 24-year economic cooperation agreement between Utah and the German state.
Early outcomes from the mission are already emerging, including interest from global firms in energy projects at the IPP site in Delta and new opportunities for collaboration with Bayer’s research network to support Utah’s growing life sciences ecosystem.
