India’s rapidly growing middle class, massive digital adoption, and a rise in foreign investment makes it a prime destination for companies looking to scale. But where do you start?
Dr. K. Srikar Reddy, consul general of India in San Francisco, joined us for a Global Gateway luncheon. He shared insights into India’s strong and dynamic economy and how India is open to international business across many industries. We also heard from industry experts Atul Thakkar from Anand Rathi Financial Services and Hemang Parekh from DSK Legal, who spoke on the multitude of opportunities in India.
They discussed India’s rise as a major global economy and its strong potential for manufacturing partnerships, especially in semiconductors and technology. With a $4 trillion GDP and supportive government policies in most sectors, India offers attractive opportunities for foreign investment. The country benefits from a large, English-speaking, skilled workforce and government-backed support for startups, including in less developed areas. India is embracing AI, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2027, and sees international collaboration as key to future growth.

Meet the Speakers
Dr. K. Srikar Reddy, consul general of India at San Francisco
Dr. Reddy joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2001 and has held posts in Germany, Switzerland and at the WTO in Geneva. He served as consul general in Ho Chi Minh City from 2017 to 2020, and later as joint secretary at the Commerce Department — overseeing trade ties with Africa and the Middle East and leading negotiations with Mauritius and the UAE. He is now consul general of India in San Francisco.
Atul Thakkar, director, Anand Rathi Financial Services
