Did you know that six out of 10 euros generated in Austria can be attributed to foreign trade? The U.S. and Austria have one of the largest trade relationships in the world, totaling $1.6 trillion (not a typo!) annually in bilateral investments and trade. For Utah companies, Austria presents a variety of export opportunities in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, advanced manufacturing, education, cyber security, and more.
We welcomed Austrian Consul General, Dr. Michael Postl on Monday, November 13, for a business luncheon. Utah companies who joined gained a better understanding of doing business in Austria and got the opportunity to build connections to the embassy.
This event was hosted in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and the Salt Lake Chamber.
Consul General Dr. Michael Postl
Dr. Michael Postl is a seasoned diplomat with a strong background in international trade. He has served as Austria’s ambassador to Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam.
Previously, Dr. Postl headed the Department for multilateral economic affairs at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, responsible for critical areas like IFIs, WTO, OECD, G20, and G7. While there, he also established the business service unit.
With a PhD in law from the University of Vienna, His expertise in international trade and economic affairs has been instrumental in shaping Austria's global footprint.
