Beauty Industry Group Named One Utah International Business of the Year by Governor Cox

Salt Lake City-based Beauty Industry Group (BIG) was selected by Governor Cox as the One Utah International Business of the Year. BIG CEO Derrick Porter accepted the award at Governor Cox’s One Utah Summit on May 2.

As the category creator of hair extensions, BIG sells its products in 165 countries to more than 100,000 stylists and salons worldwide. And in addition to the 150 team members based at the company’s Utah headquarters, BIG has additional offices in China, Australia, England, Germany, Canada, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and San Diego, with plans to open physical operations in another four eastern countries by mid-2023.

The company’s impressive and continued growth is reflected by the jobs created in Utah and worldwide, employing 550 workers directly and more than 3,000 indirectly in Asia. Having an internationally-known and respected business headquartered in Utah helps support the state's goal of being known as the crossroads of the world.

“We are incredibly humbled to be recognized by Governor Cox and his office,” shared Porter. “This causes within us a desire to continue to work hard and smart to make sure we are living up to the accolades that have been given to us.”

BIG joined WTC Utah’s Board of Directors earlier this year to help support companies throughout the state with their global growth.

“BIG is helping put Utah on the map in a really unique and exciting way,” shared Michelle Conley, Director of Partner Relations for WTC Utah. “Few companies can tout as much global success, and Derrick’s work with WTC Utah focuses on helping other Utah businesses experience the same international achievements.”
