Navigating tariffs: special extended briefing 🚢
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in a major case that could reshape presidential tariff authority on Nov. 5. For businesses navigating global sourcing, compliance, and cost volatility, the outcome could change the legal and operational landscape.
Our Nov. 7 Trade & Tariff Briefing features an extended, one-hour legal analysis from international trade experts at Cassidy Levy Kent — unpacking what happened in court, what to watch next, and what it means for your company.
Why this matters
The case — a consolidation of Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump and Trump v. V.O.S. Selections, Inc. — challenges whether the President overstepped statutory limits when imposing broad tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Key issues before the Court include:
Presidential authority under IEEPA to regulate imports
Separation of powers and whether tariff-setting belongs solely to Congress
Business impact on pricing, sourcing, and contract planning
Whether the Court narrows or affirms IEEPA authority, the implications for tariff policy — and your bottom line — are significant.
This is a can’t-miss session for legal, compliance, operations, and executive teams.
