BY ART RAYMOND, DESERET NEWS — Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United States and Saudi royal family member Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud made her first visit to Utah in early March 2020, just a year or so after her appointment to the post when she became the first woman diplomat for her country.

Returning to Dubai for the second time this year, a delegation of Utah businesses—this time representing the state’s aerospace and defense industry—exhibited at the Dubai Airshow on Nov. 14–18, 2021.

The Silicon Slopes Tech Summit that spanned from Jan. 31 – Feb. 1 in Salt Lake City brought over 20,000 attendees in celebration of a historic year for Utah’s tech industry. A delegation of prominent business leaders from Amman, Jordan attended the Summit.

World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) and the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) hosted Mr. Saud Al Nowais, commercial counselor for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the United States of America, and Jonathan Garon, director of commercial affairs for the Trade and Commercial Office at the Embassy of the UAE, for a business tour of Utah on Dec. 6 and 7, 2018.

It all begins with an idea.

A Qatari delegation, led by His Excellency Sheikh Meshal Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Ambassador Anne Patterson and Ambassador Khalid Bin Yousef Al-Sada, visited Utah on March 21 and 22 and was hosted by World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah).

Utah shooting range equipment firm projects over 400% growth due to new opportunities brought by utilizing WTC Utah resources such as the STEP grant and trade shows.

Three Utah companies participating in the World Trade Center Utah trade mission to Israel are currently doing business with the country: GlobalSim, Intermountain Healthcare, and PEEL Therapeutics.

Gov. Gary R. Herbert is leading a delegation of 19 Utah companies on a trade mission to Amman, Jordan and a trade mission to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, Israel this week.
