Haven Tents showcases on a global stage at ISPO Munich

Last November, Utah-based Haven Tents showcased their innovative products at the ISPO Munich trade show. With help from WTC Utah and the SBA STEP Grant, Haven Tents was able to stand out from the crowd, and like their patented hammocks, elevate their global success.

Haven Tents specializes in creating high-quality, durable tents that are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. They also offer something entirely new: the world's first complete lay flat hammock.

With a mission to inspire people to get outside and connect with nature, their tents are designed to withstand the elements and provide a comfortable, secure space to rest after a day spent exploring the great outdoors. Though a good night’s rest isn’t an official guarantee of a Haven Tent (they can’t, of course, eliminate noisy campground neighbors or things that go bump or hoot in the night) we’d still put our money on a solid eight hours of log sawing.

More than just amazing sleep, the company is also committed to sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship. By using high-quality, eco-friendly materials in their tents, they work hard to minimize waste and reduce their environmental impact. And through their Haven Seconds program, customers can buy slightly used and/or repaired products for a reduced price.

While at ISPO Munich, Haven Tents' product stood out at ISPO Munich and garnered a lot of global attention, even despite some hesitancy in the EU market due to current economic conditions. While exhibiting, Haven Tents was able to make valuable international connections in Germany, Poland, the U.K., France, and South Africa.

“It was an honor to join the Utah delegation and represent Haven Tents at ISPO Munich,” Derek Tillotson, the founder and CEO of Haven Tents. “It was great to meet people from all over the world who were showing interest in my brand and this amazing product.”

ISPO Munich is the world’s premier international trade show for the sports and outdoor industry. In 2022, the trade show attracted more than 85,000 visitors from 120 countries.

Now, back home, the team is optimistic about the potential outcomes for their business as a result of attending the trade show. They credit the international connections they made as the most valuable aspect of the trip and are already working to cultivate these into solid business relationships. It not only provided an international platform for their brand, but it also allowed them to network and connect with other entrepreneurs from their home state.

“Spending time with other outdoor entrepreneurs from the state of Utah was really cool,” said Tillotson. “Obviously, there are so many new businesses that start every year in Utah and it was great to spend this one-on-one time with so many of these Utah entrepreneurs.”

For small business owners like Haven Tents, the SBA STEP Grant can provide crucial support for international trade activities.
