WTC Utah/GOED International Coordinating Committee: a hub for all things international

The International Coordinating Committee, a hub for all internationally-focused activities in Utah, combines strengths and efforts of numerous partners in pursuit of global connectivity within the state. The committee meets monthly and is comprised of representatives of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, World Trade Center Utah, Small Business Administration, U.S. Commercial Service, World Trade Association of Utah, Sister Cities, Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, and many academic institutions and other organizations with an interest in promoting international trade and affairs for Utah.

Many leaders of Utah universities participate with regular updates of programs that, among many other goals, encourage study abroad opportunities for Utah students, establish global engagement centers, recruit international students and facilitate visits of delegations from every corner of the world. In pursuit of collaboration and support for these events, attendees share their current projects and upcoming events that could be of interest to the committee.

Beth Garstka, the Community Outreach Director of English Skills Learning Center, attended for the first time today as a guest of WTC Utah. She was impressed with the range of internationally focused people on the committee, many of whom she would normally not have an opportunity to meet.

"I loved hearing about all of the various efforts and endeavors to create potential business opportunities for Utahns," said Ms. Garstka. "Clearly Utah is an international place."
